5. Your Children Placate You From Premature Graves
3. Isis - In The Absence of Truth
2. Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
1. Black Ships Ate the Sky
If you know anything about my music taste, you'll probably notice a (disturbing) lack of IDM in this list. Never fear, I haven't forgotten my roots - I just got a bit "burned out" with glitchy beats and minimal melodies. Also, I felt the need to explore a lot of artists (and genres) I feel that I've been neglecting, so I spent most of my record-money this year purchasing less electronic music than usual. I'll follow this post (or edit this one) with a list of non-2006 releases I discovered this year.
Cylkk recommended these guys to me, probably about a year ago, and their autumnal ethereal/goth/neofolk hybrid is extremely pleasing to mine ears. …
15 Aug 2006, 21:26 by Ruuh_AllahI really don't want to do any intro writeup at the moment - everything I would want to say, I've already done in one of my previous two entries. Of those, the first one easily has provided me more satisfaction. Perhaps because it had somewhat better set mood to it - I don't know. But I know that there aren't many things better than falling asleep to that mix. Well, maybe falling asleep to this one.
1. I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (from The Trinity Sessions)
Well, actually I'm not. Nevertheless, I've somehow missed Cowboy Junkies from my earlier searches for twilight music. But they're just that - artists of twilight hour, creating noir-ish alt-country pieces that sound wonderfully out of this world. Still, they're rather generic and their own tracks aren't shining with wonderful songwriting, so I chose the Hank William's cover. A great song on it's own and the cover does it justice.
2. Стань Птицей - translated as "Become a Bird" (from 46)
2 Aug 2006, 18:29 by tije+Form Of... - wspaniały eksperyment pewnego Francuza; słychać udział żywych instrumentów takich jak gitary, bas (stałe linie, podobne troch do stylu Radiohead), perkusja, piano, trąbka, cymbałki; elektronika na przemian ukryta we tle lub na wierzchu, przybierając postać noisowego beatu (Stimulus Plan B.mp3); melodie leniwe, dynamiczne, przyprószone lekką nutką dekadencji - nie pozwalają się jednak znudzić czy zdołować. Polecane do wypróbowania zarówno podczas aktywnego dnia, jak i wieczorem/w nocy.
Ponadto potrzebne na letni (samotny lub niekoniecznie) wieczór/noc to albumy Stars of the Lid, szczególnie dwupłytowy The Tired Sounds Oforaz projekty poboczne - piękny The Dead Texan...
I jeszcze jedna bogata, oryginalna płyta Play the Immutable Truth; całośc spójna, Francuz rozwija swój styl, co ciekawe - w 4 utworach.
+Gllia - spacer po tęczy
When the Detail Lost its Freedom - kolejne ambientowe dzieło od pana ze Stars of the Lid
+minal rok odkad jestem na Last.fm... …

- I don't know, that's why i'm asking you!
well, i've decided to try something. here i'll post reviews to some of the music i like. i'm not a professional reviewer, so this will be my sandbox. english is not my primary language. if you feel outraged by my engrish blurps, feel free not to read this journal.
Celine - Elapsed Time
"Long awaited release from Funckarma and Ulrich Schnauss collaborator." – a blah-blah note from Discogs. I'd say that this album is a surprise to me – I rarely await an album, a film or a book – I like being surprised. And this is a very pleasant surprise for me. This release is a colab between many artists and the french singer Celine. She likes to experiment and that’s obvious. In her “Uplifting demo” she sings vocals on her own on several tracks such as Aphex’s “Nannou”, “IZ US”, “Flim”, BoC’s “Anything you do is a balloon”. Rather interesting – IDM + vocals/lyrics is a rare phenomenon. …
