Fascination Street (5:14)

‘Fascination Street’ is a 1989 single from The Cure’s album of the same year, Disintegration; the album was a commercial success and is largely considered the band’s creative peak. The Cure’s American record company refused the band’s original choice of ‘Lullaby’ as the first single and used “Fascination Street” instead. At the time, Lullaby was the lead single in the UK, but was released in the U.S. later. The song is notable for its extended bass introduction.

Oh it's opening time down on Fascination Street
So let's cut the conversation and get out for a bit
Because I feel it all fading and paling and I'm begging
To drag you down with me to kick the last nail in

Great song - not their best in my opinion but it's up there for sure.

If i had to say one song...one best song ever, i'd say "Fascination street". Really. . I like the extended version much more, because a i grew up on "mixed up" album.

For the first time I listened to this song about 8 years ago and fell in love with it right away. Now I think if I heard it today for the first time, I would have the same feeling about it. Really great song!

While the bass and guitar (and voice and synth) are indeed amazing, one very overlooked aspect of this track (and Disintegration as a whole) is that perfectly produced snare.

Guitar work (both bass and guitar) are so amazing on this whole album. They really shine in this song though.
