Trollhättan, Sweden (1990 – 2004, 2009 – present)

The Crown is a death/ band formed in Trollhättan, Sweden in 1990. Their original moniker (until 1998) was Crown Of Thorns for the band’s first two albums, which had to be changed due to another band already using that name.

Their music and lyrics are inspired by death, anti-religion themes (mostly targeting Christianity) and rebellion. They are known to fuse death metal with thrash influences.

The Crown disbanded in 2004. Lindstrand went on to form One Man Army and the Undead Quartet. Tervonen and Saarenpää formed Angel Blake, named after a song by Danzig. Despite having broken up they made one last release as a tribute to their fans. A triple DVD set containing live shows, and bootlegs.

The Crown reformed in December 2009, without vocalist Johan Lindstrand. Jonas Stålhammar of God Macabre is the new vocalist.

As of September 9th 2011, Johan Lindstrand has resumed vocal duties in The Crown.

Hell is Here is very black metal inspired. rotting christ and marduk influences are apparent. great rock n' roll/ 'norsecore' sound to that album

Great new album. I didn't have high hopes, the band has never been of my favorites, but after several listens has been a pleasant surprise. 'Headhunter', 'Speed Kills', 'Ride to Ruin', 'Eternal' (Paradise Lost Cover) & Meduseld (Instrumental) the best of the album. [8,5/10]

Death is not Dead is solid. I would have wished for more speed, because I like speed. This is The Crown, the new album has their sound. Johan has once more delivered.

Holy shrieks! How did I misread that?! Agreed, Doomsday is mediocre compared to Deathrace, Crowned and Possessed. I would put it next to Hell Is Here. Also, Headhunter kicks major ass, the only con is that Janne isn't playing drums but... Marko. Hope he'll surprise me but so far no killer fills.

@H-channie Devil Gate Ride is from Deathrace King, NOT Doomsday King. And Yes, I did expect that bad-assery first time I heard it when I got my pre-order back in 2000. Deathrace King is one of the best albums in metal from the first note, to very end, period (not what I was speaking of when saying Doomsday King is so-so).

Can't wait for Death is not Dead!!! Also, @ABHORRANCE666 Disagreed, Doomsday King has more catchier and well constructed songs: did anyone expect the CRASHING THROUGH THE GATES when they heard Devil Gate Ride for the first time?

Johan ftw indeed. New album will be interesting, hope they will get their max intensity back again :)

New album should be rad with the return of Johann. Doomsday King was their most mundane and boring effort, hardly any shredding leads, and lackluster vocals. Johann is the true voice of The Crown (hence how I love Crowned Unholy with the vocals re-recorded even though Thomas did a great job on Crowned in Terror).
