The Comforters are a folk/ chamber pop duo. Pia and Jason Robbins write warm and inviting songs that combine the story telling of roots and folk music paired with pop sensibilities and melodies.

Following the release of their first record, Transplants, The Comforters quickly found ears from around the world tuned to the bittersweet in life. They had radio play on programs in the U.S. and Europe. “I Want To Rock”, was featured in the movie Girls Named Pinky that debuted at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival and “Saturday Night” was featured in the BBC teen drama, Skins.

The Comforters are touring this summer in support of their second full-length, Two Piece Orchestra, a knockout blow of ten alternatingly heartbreaking and heartwarming songs. Two Piece Orchestra maneuvers expertly between sparse acoustic ballads, jovial ditties, and glorious chamber pop. Fans of folk, indie pop, Americana, chamber pop, and plain old great songwriting will enjoy The Comforters.

We need a song about the snow after this week's blanketing in the Northwest. I'm sure the Comforters are already on it as they are definitely connected to place. For now, I listen to Reasons, and it will do.

Lucy is a haunting sound that plays in my head day and night. This is a whole story about being obsessed and lost, about looking for love and being filled with sadness and loneliness, the guitar weeping and a dirge sound right behind you, wailing with your heart.

The Comforters create a mood without gimmicks. The pure, unadulterated lyrics touch your soul. Every song tells a story that we all have lived.
