The Chamber Strings

The Chamber Strings formed in 1997 in Chicago, IL, by singer/songwriter Kevin Junior and drummer/percussionist Anthony Illarde.
That same year they released their debut album Gospel Morning , in collaboration with several musicians. But it wasn’t until 1999, with the definitive line up completed with Tim Fowler, Jason Walker and Carolyn Engelmann, that the album was reissued, and the started getting attention from the musical press with the release of singles like Everyday Is Christmas or Telegram.

In 2001 their second album, Month Of Sundays, was released. It gained critical acclaim and became a cult favourite.
Their influences are taken between the most elegant pop, soul and folk of the 60’s and the 70’s - Neil Young, Alex Chilton, Dusty Springfield, Phil Spector, Brian Wilson etc…

After a long tour through the US, Canada and Europe, the band was put on hiatus due to Kevin Junior’s - frontman, songwriter and producer- depression and drug addiction.
In the meanwhile, the rest of the band continued performing under the name of Saint Tropez. In 2007, with Junior rehabilitated, the band reunited and played several shows in the US. Right now, the third Chamber Strings album is already written and arranged, but they’re still waiting for the right record deal to be able to make the record properly.

Yes, they still exist. They released Month of Sundays in 2001, and then they put the band in hiatus, due to Kevin Junior's drug addiction. In 2007 they reunited, and they are looking for a record label to record a new album.
