Shake It Up (3:33)

Cover of Greatest Hits

From Greatest Hits and 57 other releases

The Shake It Up Songfacts says: This is a tailor-made party song. With the simple “dance all night” refrain, it indeed became a favorite dance party tune. At the same time, it has the synthesizers and drum machines that give it what was a futuristic sound in 1981, looking forward to their future albums.

Uh well, dance all night, play all day
Don't let nothin' get in the way
Dance all night, keep the beat
Don't you worry 'bout two left feet

This is so close to being "80s punk rock" it's not even funny. So much fun. Yes I recall this in "Last Virgin" -- this song and "I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses.... LOL good old film. "Shake It Up" is such a great song!! <3

Also remember this being one of the tunes played in the movie 'The Last American Virgin' which was a movie similar to and released around the same time as 'Fast Times At Ridgemont High'

Take me back to the happy 80s and the Cars. This is part of the soundtrack of that time. It must have been because it was on almost every teen coming of age movie at that time.

I consider The Cars one of the very few timeless bands. They could have came out today and been just as big.
