The Brian Jonestown Massacre was formed in San Francisco in 1990. The band has had over 40 members since then, but its driving force and main songwriter is Anton Newcombe.   • I don't know, kronictonik, just about every neo-psych band has either branched off of BJM or branched off of those branches - or has obvious influence from them. You're right that they didn't create the genre all by themselves and a lot of the bands go a lot further with it and end up creating sounds that BJM never really has, but overall I don't think neo-psych would be a thing if it wasn't for BJM.

  • Awesome band and such; I'm stoked about the Tess Parks collaboration. Biggest pet peeve has to be people claiming anything neo-psych has BJM influences. They didn't create the genre ffs.
