Mini Album Thingy Wingy for me, it's my favorite material of theirs since their peak period. And it's by far their best recorded and sounding stuff. It's breathtaking on a really nice sound system, you can crank it up really loud and it's not fatiguing to the ears.
well, i guess that the reference is pretty obvious. anton also have said that 'my bloody underground' didn't have anything to do with MBV, but if you give a listen to the album you'll see that the allusion is clearly proposital.
By the way, fans of BJM should give The Citradels a try. Upcoming band from Australia that does the neo-psychedelic thing pretty good. Sometimes it's almost as if you're listening to early BJM demo tapes.
I don't know, kronictonik, just about every neo-psych band has either branched off of BJM or branched off of those branches - or has obvious influence from them. You're right that they didn't create the genre all by themselves and a lot of the bands go a lot further with it and end up creating sounds that BJM never really has, but overall I don't think neo-psych would be a thing if it wasn't for BJM.
