Only just heard of The Breeders really (although I remember seeing the distinctive 'Cannonball' vid on MTV in the 90's). I really like the band and Pod. I'm not sure why it wasn't more commercially successful when released. Is it just me that thinks song 'Fortunately Gone' is very 'Foo-Fighters' (or the other way around)?

i loved Pod so much from first listen, that everything they did after was, well -- i don't want to say a let-down, because i never expected a duplicate, but Last Splash just wasn't there for me. regardless i continued to hope for another gentle, mental screw like Pod. sometimes i like to think they still have it in them. even if they don't, i don't care and they'll never lose my respect. the bar was set so high right out of the starting gate, and on its release the Breeders project looked like a one-off, so anything they did afterwards was gravy. love forever.

Years ago I listened to this album and didn't like it at all. Not a single song stood out for me back in the day, I thought it was very slow and boring. I listened to it again today and I am really ashamed of my older self; this is stunning! I am a great fan of Last Splash but at this moment Pod is the superior album for me. What a hidden gem! Definitely worths a listen with headphones on.

Probably the most underrated album of all time. Pod is The Breeders finest moment and at times it's almost superior to both Doolittle and Surfer Rosa.

I always thought this was an odd little album. It just kinda languidly trods along the surface but never really peaks or crescendos...it does keep you interested though.

Seemed a little sugar-coated at times but overall it was solid. Really there were not tracks that particularly stood out.

I have no idea why people think this is better than Last Splash. I mean, yeah, I like it, but it's sluggish and doesn't have as many upbeat catchy tunes. Plus, Steve makes the guitars sound kinda thin.

One of the most influential albums on Kurt Cobain. "Pod" is to minimalist pop what "The Velvet Underground and Nico" was to pop's avant garde. All the bones, all the architecture is exposed; and what gorgeous bone structure it is.
