Seattle, Washington, United States (1997 – 2007, 2014 – present)

The Blood Brothers are an American band formed in Seattle, Washington, United States on September 27, 1997, who officially announced their breakup in October 2007. Their music combined influences with an edge and abstract lyrics. Members were: Jordan Blilie (vocals), Johnny Whitney (vocals), and Morgan Henderson (bass), along with Waxwing’s Cody Votolato (guitar) and Mark Gajadhar (drums).

The band was considered unusual in that it had two dedicated lead vocalists. In addition to this, Cody and Morgan performed back-up vocals. Later albums (…Burn, Piano Island, Burn and especially Crimes) featured a degree of experimental instrumentation: Morgan often deviated from bass to add a second guitar or synthesiser, and also utilized a sampler. Johnny added piano/Wurlitzer to many more songs, a process which actually began on “Time for Tenderness” from This Adultery Is Ripe. He has claimed he always wanted to incorporate such instruments into the Blood Brothers’ sound, but only on signing with a major label prior to …Burn, Piano Island, Burn did he have the means to do this.

The band has been described as , , , and even and (see Alternative Press Issue from October 2005). In small circles discussions of the band related with the concept that they have influences from the punk scene of the 1980’s. The band made wide use of various punk/hardcore vocal styles (i.e. screaming) and instrumentation (i.e., fast drumming and plentiful power chords).

this is funny though: "Botch were the first band I saw where the singer screamed into a microphone, and I don’t find it too hyperbolic to say it changed my whole life trajectory. They were my introduction to hardcore (I won’t split hairs with all the different subgenres), and if you’re going to be influenced by a hardcore band, you might as well pick the one that’s smarter and better than everyone else. I remember my dad barging into my room while I was listening to this 7-inch, demanding why the singer couldn’t just sing, following his plea with an impression that was thoroughly embarrassing. I played my mom, an elementary school music teacher, their cover of Carl Orff”s “O Fortuna” because she organized an annual Carl Orff seminar every summer. She was horrified."

"I can't believe it's been 7 years (well, 6 and a month or so) since these guys broke up, now is the time for a reunion." So I was only 4 months too early!
