    The Best Albums of 2010
    plus honorable mentions and let-downs
2010 was an amazing year of music, in my opinion. I had to listen/re-listen to a lot of albums to get a comprehensive and true-to-my-thoughts list compiled. The album descriptions and reviews are written in a simple style, due to the fact that I get really pissed when I read music reviews that give me extremely obscure information, imply knowledge of at least 6 other unrelated albums, and use adjectives that normal humans would never use to describe anything. On top of that, those kinds of reviews usually don’t even give me a good idea of what the album sounds like, and I would probably spend less time listening to the album than trying to figure out what each sentence means.
Anyway, after hours and hours of work, I present to you my year-end music list!

  • Who I Saw at Bonnaroo Ranked According to Awesomeness

    13. Kings of Leon (Friday, 3:45pm, What Stage)
Although I have been a fairly big fan of Kings of Leon since Youth And Young Manhood, I found it hard to really get into The Kings' set, maybe because of the nearly unbearable heat during their show. Although there were some songs that I was glad I was able to hear, I was really expecting more from them.
--Highlights: Knocked Up, King Of The Rodeo, The Bucket.

    12. The Police (Saturday, 9:00pm, What Stage)
An interesting show to say the least. We ended up being late by about 3 songs, but were able to hear everything from our campsite. I wish I could've been more into this show, but with the Lips coming up, My mind was in a different place.
--Highlights: Can't Stand Losing You, Walking on the Moon, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

    11. The Black Keys (Friday, 6:15pm, That Tent)
Only stayed at this show for about 5 or 6 songs at the behest of my friends, but definitely saw enough to know that these guys rock. …

I may have found a modern (aka still alive and kicking) band that I actually like!!! I accidentally discovered one of their tracks on my computer at work, off of The School of Rock soundtrack that I incompletely downloaded.

They've been compared to the , White Stripes but I'd rather listen to these guys any day. Much more of an early blues-rock feel. The intro even has a touch of Jimi Hendrix.

    Anyways, check out

  • a summer soundtrack

    1. Cruel
Calexico released an excellent album this year. The openeing track from that album would be a great opener on any album, even a summer soundtrack.

    2. Lady Liberty
Me and a friend had a beer and watched Okkervil River live. A few tracks made a deep impression on me, one of them being Lady Liberty. Too bad so few has heard it live, it is a really good song.

    3. O, Dana
At the concert described above Okkervil performed a really good cover on the old Big Star song O, Dana. I love a good cover, but in some cases the original track must be put in front.

    4. Set You Free
I love lofi music and listens to it a lot. However, sometimes I like to tear it all down and play more rock oriented music. I cannot think of a better way of doing it than listening to The Black Keys sweet blues inspired rock.

    5. Gravity's Gone
While we are talking about southern rock, you have to know the fact that Drive-By Truckers relased a new album this year. …
  • Friday Random Ten: Festivus Edition

    24 Dec 2005, 01:39 by snooble

You know what day it is! Time to put your digital music player (iTunes for Mac OSX this week) on shuffle, click play, and list the first ten songs that show up. You must resist the temptation to click past the bad or embarrassing songs.

    1. Pretty Good Year
    2. Blue Tag
    3. Morning Glory
    4. Black Dog
    5. My Eyes Have Seen You
    6. Max the Dork - Eulogy
    7. Stars
    8. A boy’s best friend
    9. Set You Free
    10. Over the Mountain

Most Favorite: “Pretty Good Year” from my favorite album of hers, Under the Pink.

Least Favorite: “Morning Glory” from (What's the Story) Morning Glory?... as I’ve mentioned before, I don’t really like Oasis, but for some reason I have their albums.
