Dry the Rain (6:04)

Cover of The Three EPs

From The Three EPs and 27 other releases

The band’s music featuring prominently in a scene in the film High Fidelity (based on the Nick Hornby novel of the same name), released in late March 2000 in the U.S. and July in the UK. In the film, a record store owner played by John Cusack mentions the band by name (“I will now sell five copies of The Three EPs by The Beta Band”) and plays a minute or so of the song “Dry the Rain.” This scene exposed the band to a wide range of new listeners, particularly in the U.S., where the band’s profile had previously been borderline nonexistent.

"I will now sell five copies of The Three E.P.'s by The Beta Band" -> First reaction: "Yes. Yes, you will. Minimum." Second reaction: "Hey, I already own that album. Confidence restored."

This is the definition of my life Lying in bed in the sunlight Choking on the vitamin tablet The doctor gave in the hope of saving me In the hope of saving me Walked in the corner of the room A junk yard fool with eyes of gloom I asked him time again Take me in and dry the rain Take me in and dry the rain Take me in and dry the rain Take me in and dry the rain the rain The rain the rain the rain now Dusty brown boots in the corner By the ironing board Spray on dust is the greatest thing Sure is the greatest thing Since the last since the last Walked in the corner of the room A junk yard fool with eyes of gloom I asked him time again Take me in and dry the rain Take me in and dry the rain Take me in and dry the rain Take me in and dry the rain the rain The rain the rain the rain now I Need Love, yeah I Need Love
