7 Aug 2007, 21:42 by PikaceI'm wondering about everyone's opinion on The Beatles's Help!. This seems to be a pretty emotionally learned and thoughtful album to me, most of its themes concerning the facts of life that we all come in contact with in the mindfield of human emotion. We'll go in track order; I'm not going to mention all of them, just ones that really stick out to me.
This one reads as a plea for (and you guessed it) "Help!". The lyric is pretty miserable... I can only assume since the lyric really seems unresolved that whoever wrote the lyric (McCartney? Lennon?) or whoever they were writing about didn't get that "Help!".
The Night Before
I'm probably missing the point of this one, but if I'm right, it's pretty easy to associate with. Who hasn't felt like they've been treated differently by the same person on two occasions?
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Aside from being one of my favorite Lennon tunes, this one is pretty relevant to what I feel is the emotional groupthink in most of the modern world.

By My Side
7/10 for the vocal line in the verse
7/10 guitar and vocals. Runaground - What a song!
6/10 trying to work out which came out first, to see if this could be another "No More Heroes"...
Nothing to Lose
Wont Get Fooled Again
7/10 "And I'll pick up my guitar and play, just like yesterday!"
9/10 Sneeeeaky... it took me a while to work out where I'd heard that chuggy riff in the verse before, but its a cracker!
I Miss Me
On A Rope
5/10 Ok its a pretty generic riff so I'll let em off
Good Times, Bad Times
6/10 A little more tenuous..?
The Night Before
7/10 A feel thing
Cure for Pain
7/10 Haaaaaaaaay baby, ooh! ahh! Not really in keeping with the melancholy of the Morpine track

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Pick your favorite lines from the first 50 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Comment with song title and artist.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
no artist repeats.
