Revolution (3:22)

Cover of Love

From Love and 53 other releases

Revolution is a song by The Beatles written by John Lennon and attributed to Lennon/McCartney. It was a number 1 hit in Australia.
The song appeared in two distinctly different incarnations, a raucous electric Revolution, released as a single, and a slowed Revolution 1, which appeared on The Beatles, also known as the White Album. A third connected piece written by Lennon, the heavily experimental “Revolution 9”, appeared on the same White Album side as “Revolution 1”, on the second side of the second disc.

True Fact: When "Hey Jude" was released as a single, many people who flipped the single over and once heard the opening riff to "Revolution," they brought back their records saying something is wrong with the record (obviously the distortion which many back then were still not accustomed too). Now there are no statistics of how many actually returned and/or got a refund but it is a fact. I would say it was in the very low percentage but its still an interesting piece of Beatles history.

John Lennon pioneer the concept of Grunge music in the opening riff. Almost 30 years ahead, damn amazing. Thanx to Geoff Emerick the engineer.

Both Revolutions are great (I never include # 9), but I absolutely love the horns in Revolution 1.
