Come Together (3:37)

Cover of Abbey Road

From Abbey Road and 27 other releases

“Come Together” is a song by The Beatles written primarily by John Lennon and credited to Lennon/McCartney.
The song is the lead-off track on The Beatles’ September 1969 album Abbey Road.
One month later it also appeared as one of the sides of the group’s twenty-first single (it was a double A-side, the other side being George Harrison’s “Something “) in the United Kingdom, their twenty-sixth in the United States.

The song reached the top of the charts in the US, while becoming a Top 10 hit in the UK.

According to the Come Together Songfacts, the whispered lyric that sounds like “shoot” is actually Lennon saying “shoot me” followed by a handclap. The bass line drowns out the “me.”

One of the most covered songs of all time, cover versions of “Come Together” have been recorded/performed by many artists — such as Aerosmith, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Gotthard, Soundgarden, Axl Rose & Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, Joe Cocker and Sugababes.

Yes! It IS the Beatles today. John said that the lyrics were chosen because they sounded good in verse with no particular meaning. Love the heavy bass!

Good stuff. However, like ibroxstadium said it definitely isn't their best. For some reason, I always overlooked the whole blues side of it until now.

Its amazing what hype will do.This song was never in 40 years regarded as one of the top 10 Beatles songs......and then in the last 10 years it has become the most popular???? Has it been used in an Ad campaign in the US or something?Either that, or everyone picking through the lyrics having heard about their meaning in recent years.Good song, but nowhere near their best!
