About this album

Surf’s Up is the seventeenth studio album by American rock band The Beach Boys, released on August 30, 1971 on Brother Records and Reprise. The album was released to more public anticipation than the Beach Boys had previously had for several years. The album’s title is taken from the song of the same title written by Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks for the abandoned studio album, Smile.

this album is so close to being perfect, but "student demonstration time" sort of ruins it for me. I'll be enjoying disney girls but in the back of my head I'm really anticipating the brashness of the next track...

Side 2 is fantastic. I've been listening to Surf's Up (the song) once a day for the last two weeks and it keeps getting better...

I really like how little this one's dominated by Brian. Really lets the other lads shine through. Furthermore proves that Bruce was a full-worthy member and hey, Al is awesome. With that said, "Student Demonstration Time" is probably the worst thing ever made.

Check out Sunflower/Surf's Up for correct tracks. Not that any available to listen to, so dig out your albums. Almost agree with Reagan0: most consistently brilliant album. Yet few tracks ever make "best of" compilations.
