About this album
Pet Sounds was created several months after Brian Wilson had quit touring with the band in order to focus his attention on writing and recording.[6] In it, he wove elaborate layers of vocal harmonies, coupled with sound effects and unconventional instruments such as bicycle bells, buzzing organs, harpsichords, flutes, the Electro-Theremin, and dog whistles, along with the more usual keyboards and guitars

I owned this album in my iTunes library for several years. But today, October 29, 2009, I realized how unbelievably amazing this album is. It's just......amazing. I Just Wasn't Made For These Times is.....incredible.

Pet Sounds is a totally different breed in comparison to Sgt. Pepper. It's important to know McCartney LOVED 'God Only Know,' and probably many of the Beach Boys' tunes. Their approaches were just so different from each other both in composition and writing. I'm partial to Sgt. Pepper because I grew up with it, but Pet Sounds is certainly a masterwork by the Beach Boys. It's no Surf's Up, my personal fave for whatever reason I can't explain.
