The band forms in 1952 under the name Steve Smithy and His Bearfoots - soon release Rock Around The Clock on vinyl 7". American Radio & TV personality Dick Clark later referred to the song as the 'National anthem of rock n roll'.
Increasingly utilising the guitar as an 'out front' instrument, they invent and perfect 'Descending pentatonic double-stops' and the 'Hambone Rhythm' along with creating the fuzz-tone guitar sound. Col. Tom Parker is enlisted as manager.
