The Band Eclypse, for all intents and purposes, started as a unique two rapper duo. In February of 2009, rappers Daniel Lonner (aka L.E.D.) and Jeremy Jordan-Jones (aka Triple J), after a successful audition that landed them a spot at Harlem’s famed Amateur Night at The Apollo, decided to inject the contest with the complexity, entertainment, and excitement of a live band performing side by side with the two enticing MCs. The legendarily hostile audience at the Apollo took their side, and proceeded to crown them winners of two consecutive rounds, clearly enthralled by the originality and youthful exuberance of this 7-member high school band. The Band Eclypse faced a decision: formed as a band for this one-time opportunity, would it want to continue? The response was a resounding “yes” from all its members. Months later, with a lineup expanded to 8 people, TBE continues to play gigs around the Northeast, garnering praise from audiences and professionals alike. TBE’s diverse library of material quickly transcended the bounds of their 30-minute sets and only continues to grow as they write new material that draws from their diverse influences, making each show unique. Their relentless effort is validated in the praise they have received: being dubbed “The future of Rock and Roll” by a DJ for 107.1 The Peak; receiving the praise of legend KRS-One; and dazzling judges for the Break Contest (including Ryan Kienle - bassist from acclaimed punk band “Matchbook Romance” and John D’Esposito – founder of Bamboozle) and winning its Connecticut bracket.
