There are so few moments like these. There are such few chances we have anymore to really experience something that is at once fully visceral and jarring but pure and true. I don't know the story behind this composition, but I know what it makes me feel. To me, it is the growth and emergence of something wistful and peaceful, but ultimately doomed. As its theme builds, it represents an almost perfect moment in time - only slowly coming unhinged. Like a fading memory it deconstructs and loses its grip, and as its beauty and serenity spiral into frustration and chaos it fights not to let go. And then it struggles through confusion and madness. But right there at 6:00 it re-discovers its direction, finds itself at 6:30, and struggles to rein the chaos back from the brink. As it comes crashing down at 7:00 there is just this incredible sense of exhaustion and surrender - but such a strange beauty in that surrender. There are so few moments like the end of this song, this album.
