So as a last minute addition to the crew I got to work the NME Tour this weekend. Neatly sidestepping my opinion of the definition the NME use of indie and there was a pretty good show lined up for us. Of course it was billed as Mumm-Ra, The Horrors, The View and The Automatic however due to the drummer being ill The Horrors pulled out, leaving the strobes redundant for most of the event.
Setting up the gig was fairly easy and the crew seemed like decent guys, the lighting tech even shared my opinon of The View (that they are shite and a bunch of twats). The lighting rig for the gig was less than spectacular but with the predominance of moving heads seemed appropriate for the bands.
First up was Mumm-Ra who were, quiet simply one of the best live bands that I've seen in a long time. They played a fantastic set which included Song B, set highlight What Would Steve Do and closer Out Of The Question which sounded even more amazing live than on record. …
