The Ashes is a name that has been used multiple times.(1) The earliest was a Los Angeles rock band of the 60s. (2) ?

The Ashes (1) formed in 1964, first as The Young Swingers (a name given them by their manager), then as The Ashes. After a few singles and one album, the band broke up. Some of the members reformed a short time later as The Peanut Butter Conspiracy.
