“The word Amateur comes from French, and can be translated as “lover of”, reflecting the amateur’s motivation to work as a result of a love or passion for a particular activity.”

The Amateurs are a Midlands based band, gathering momentum on the live circuit.
Debut single ‘Homesick’ was released in March 2009 to positive acclaim from music critics and press alike.

The band’s debut release was particularly championed by Kerrang! Radio, BBC Introducing (Hereford & Worcs and West Midlands) and was “single of the week” on inthenews.co.uk above major label artists.

Working closely with London based record label The Animal Farm, the band have built up a decent following both online and at their live performances, securing them support slots with Guillemots and Cage The Elephant, sponsorship from Jagermeister and an all expenses paid tour of Prague.

Currently working on their new single release with Producer Gareth Parton (The Go! Team) due for release in the second half of 2009, and appearing at Leeds Festival in August, The Amateurs are having a wonderful year and going from strength to strength whilst doing so.
