Biography

The Advisory Circle is Jon Brooks (formerly of King Of Woolworths), a part of the Ghost Box label. His music reflects the electronic soundtracks of the Public Information Films and Programmes for Schools and Colleges of British 70s TV. Two records have been released so far: the EP Mind How You Go and the full-length CD Other Channels. An expanded edition of the Mind How You Go CD was released on 3/3/10 on 12” and mp3 download. This included reworkings of tracks by Belbury Poly and Seeland as well as 2 new tracks. It was the first Ghost Box release on vinyl.

    I didn't claim that Ghost Box should release "Mind how..." again and again. I was talking about Other Channels, and this being disappointing in regards to that. In fact this album has more similarity with his first.

    The new album is fantastic! Specifically Everyday Hazards, Beyond The Wychelm, Wheel of the Year, and Now Ends The Beginning. I like the more melodic take that he does this time around, Ghost Box can't just release "Mind How You Go" over and over and over again.

    I'd beg to differ. It's certainly not as good as the last. It seems to have lost of lot of that uncanny dimension, the Learning Owl is one of the best tracks, but so much seems far too heimlich.
