Biography

The A’s were a Philadelphia power-pop / new wave band that almost made it. After taking the local scene by storm in the late 70s, the A’s quickly signed to Arista and released their eponymous debut LP. It made a splash locally but failed to break out nationally. A second LP followed, but it failed to make a blip on the charts. By the mid-1980s the A’s disbanded and scattered.

Little late given no chat in over a year, but I wish I would have been at every show! Errikuhhh, I saw your Dad about a month ago in NJ....but had planned to come to PA for his show this year. I LOVE the A's and have jammed out many a night listening to the record I have...in fact, this record cover is the only one cased in glass with a frame. I hope to see you when I get up to PA for their reunion....would love to see you!

Your dad was the best drummer in Philadelphia in those days. The A's were probably the best band to ever come out of Philadelphia.

Haha, I love that this band has a Last.fm page. Seeing as my dad is the drummer! Woot!

Might have been a local group from wherever around Philly. Somewhere in the early 80's I bought their debut album in the Netherlands for 2,5 guilders (less than a dollar, I guess), purely based on the cover and I've been a fan ever since.

Yes, you can get more obscure than 660 listeners. ;)

I don't think you can get much more obscure than this particular group. A true local group from my hometown. Holla!
