Tha London Undaground bio April 2008.

The concept behind “Tha London Undaground” is to perform Live House & Electro music with live instrumentalists and live vocals, preferably through the groups Sound System, which they perform through every given opportunity.

The idea and group “Tha London Undaground” were formed In June of 2008 by James O’Brien. Having just studied on a BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology, James had spent time recording sessions in the studio with percussionist Peter Hamilton. Pete at the time said “he would love to take the idea out of the studio onto the stage”. That sparked the beginning for the London Undaground.

As quickly as the idea came along, with it came the need for a guitarist. The arrival of Alan Goss came when he and James found each other. Coincidently Alan was looking to work with a house/Dance orientated group or producer at the time and a mutual friend put the two together. This was the main starting block for the group switched on the green light for the writing, and rehearsal of what was to be their first set.

Nine months of writing and recording later and the set was complete. It was whilst recording that it was decided in order to fit into one specific genre of music, they would have to keep to certain guidelines in every track. This would ensure they were maintaining a sound that doesent stray away from what it is meant to be IE.”Live House & Electro”. The only way to acheive this was by pre-recording and processing the drums and the bass line in every track. This would keep to the consistancy of most dance music, a tight punchy kick holding everything together.

After recording several tracks the group needed a second guitarist to complete the package. They didn’t have to look far when producer James’ younger brother John O’brien seemlessly fell into place at the first trial. Recognising his brothers style of music and from 6 years of playing the guitar, John was instantly draughted in as the new rhythm guitarist and completed musical side to the band.

Now, well over a year later, ‘Tha London Undaground’ have mastered and promoted their debut single ‘A Twisted Romance’, performed on international and local radio to an overwhelming response only matched at the release of the track on 1st April 2009. With the diary filling up rapidly and the profile building, Tha London Undaground are fast becoming one of the most talked about live acts in the industry.
