Th' Legendary Shack*Shakers (currently stylized 'The Legendary Shack Shakers') are a Nashville, Tennessee-based rock band that began in 1998. Their image is self-proclaimed as "Southern Gothic", and relies on mixing and mashing the sounds of punk, polka, and traditional hillbilly forms of music. The lyrics are often poetic and nonsensical. Frequent subject matter include carnivals, monkeys, murder, mental illness, Jesus, the Devil, and alcohol.

Frontman Col. J.D. Wilkes has been compared to Iggy Pop and Marilyn Manson, due to his very wild and unpredictable on-stage antics. Robert Plant is such a big Legendary Shack Shakers fan that he gave them a free spot on his Fall 2005 tour of Europe. Other big fans of the band include Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Jim Heath (The Rev. Horton Heat), Hank Williams III, and Jason "and the Scorchers" Ringenberg.
