    I understand exactly why they didn't continue making albums with Alex Parelias after this one - way too polished and uninspired. With that said, it's not a bad album. Some tracks are real killers, but as a whole it comes kinda weak compared to their others. I even prefer the melodic "hard rock-y" The Ritual before this one.

    This is the album that got me into Testament. I still love it, but now I prefer the first 2, and Dark Roots of the Earth, Formation of Damnation, and The Gathering. The solos on this album are insane. Somebody down there said Black Album Before the Black Album. I can see that, except this alum is WAY better than the Black Album could ever aspire to be.
