You just can't compare O'hara and Dan! Both are awesome in their own way, and have good and bad sides. But that 's not something worth arguing about! Just listen and enjoy!!! Polaris is stunning. Period.
Polaris lacks energy at times and feels a little short but overall the thoughtful songwriting, infectious grooves and Dan's powerful vocals still does the trick for me. 3 Rock solid albums under their belt :)
New album is great! My only gripe would be the chorus in Phoenix being a little corny for tesseract, I'm not saying it's bad, I just didn't feel like it fit with the rest of the records sound. Also the scream at the end of cages. It's like, why is there a scream there? There's not a single scream on the entire record except for those two vocal lines, and it's not like it wouldn't have worked with cleans. And of course, as an Asheract fan it's hard not to imagine how he would have handeled the songs, but judged objectively this is a damn great album!
New album is AWESOME. I love it. It's like... Danlearnedtosingerract. Great vocals, and a great album all around. Love the calmer, more ambient approach. It's the album Tesseract were meant to record. This and Altered State will be what Tesseract will be remembered for. The only thing that I can say I didn't like were the screams at the end of Cages. They felt out of place and unnecessary. All in all, I give it a 9+/10, half a point higher than I'd rate Altered State. Sure, I might have preffered Ashe to be on the vocals, but not only Dan menaged to pull of much, much improved lines compared to One, it was the rest of the band that came together much better than before. Previously Tesseract felt cluttered, often burying good ideas in djenty-proggy riffage. Here, the music itself finaly speaks for its own. And it's one hell of a voice.
