I agree about There stands the glass, biloxi, etc but the best cover he has done is, in my opinion, Long as I can see the light. But this is pretty great, too.

Ted Hawkins was a Venice Beach street performer who sang country, soul, and folk songs in the style of Sam Cooke. If you listen to no performances by Ted Hawkins, listen to Happy Hour, a beautiful country song about a man finding his wife at happy hour. Nothing more soulful than this. There Stands the Glass, Biloxi, Gypsy Woman, Just My Imagination are all terrific covers. For two totally original soul tunes, check out Revenge of Scorpio and Who Got My Natural Comb? Also, try The Constitution, where Ted gives praise to both the Constitution and Jesus.
