About this album

Released in 1993, Elemental was the fourth Tears For Fears album but the first be recorded without bassist/vocalist Curt Smith, who had left the band in 1991. Despite keeping the band name, the album was effectively a solo effort by guitarist/vocalist Roland Orzabal who had put together a new backing band which featured writing partner Alan Griffiths and bassist Gail Ann Dorsey, who had already released two solo albums herself by that point.

The album reached the Top 5 in the UK and earned a Silver disc, but only reached #45 in the US. Despite the relatively low chart placing (in comparison to their two previous albums) it was awarded a Gold disc in the US.

Includes the UK top 20 / US Top 30 hit Break It Down Again.

This is one of those rare albums that doesn't have a single misstep. And it's far better than a collection of good songs ... the entire album feels like a complete musical statement. One of my very favorite of all time.

My favorite TFF record. Favorite record of all-time, for that matter. [2] 17 years later and it's still the best album any artist has ever put out, and ever will.

Don't care what it should be called. Irrelevant to the music.

Fuck Elemental. This shouldn't even be called Tears for Fears. This is a Roland solo album.
