An outstanding young musician, Tariq Harb took to the guitar and violin at the age of eight, and began studying at the Queen Noor National Music Conservatory in Amman, Jordan. Soon he was performing for small audiences in various festivals and talent shows in the company of his rock band. Once he had completed high school, Harb moved to Montreal, Canada to study finance at Concordia University. After successfully graduating with a Bachelors of Commerce and working as a financial advisor, he realised his true passion for music and auditioned at Concordia University’s music department, where he was accepted to pursue an integritive music studies degree. He studied the classical guitar under the guidance of Roddy Ellias, and the violin with Clemence Merkel of the Bozzini Quartet. Outside of his academic training, Tariq also pursued studies of the classical guitar with prominent canadian guitarist Patrick Kearney and the violin with Claude Gelineau. He has been teaching his own students to play violin and guitar for four years. Since 2005, Tariq has played with various local orchestras, including the Orchestre Symphonique de l’Isle (OSI), were he performed the famous “Concierto de Aranjuez” for guitar and orchestra as part of the Latin Festival of Montreal “Festivalissimo”.
