That's why the top albums are all Tank the R&B singer, right? LOL. Don't speak on R&B because you have no clue what you're talking about. No one gives a damn about that band besides some frail long haired antisocial Scandinavian nerds, give me a break.
I will never understand how fucking stupid people can be to take the name of a band/artist that was already established for many many many many many years before them. If a band named "Tank" has been running for 20 years already, don't take their fucking name!
Since when popularity meant that automatically it's better? Also let me know what you know from the nwobhm or heavy metal genre in general? Judging by you writings, I assume you are the expert here. So please, tell me more? Can you actually tell us something about the music itself instead of offensive language assault towards the heavy metal Tank listeners? Nothing I guess? Nice arguments son. Go listen to you shit-tier Tank somewhere else.
v "shitty outdated metal in 2016" Excuse me but what? Do you even actually realize that you're comparing a legendary, one of the most innovating and starting powers (in it's own genre) artist to a some generic, unoriginal and nothing of value shit-tier R&B singer? Please. This Durrell Babbs dude was hardly born when the TANK that matters the most was already making history.
@MusicForLlamas you made me really interested about the whole thing with two Tanks. I searched through some informations from all around the internet (interviews with either Algy, Mick and Cliff). What I got is that Algy doesn't really care about the "fake" Tank ("I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire") and he didn't care to listen to anything from them though he emphasizes that Algy=Tank=Algy. From the other side, Tucker seems irritating in interviews but Evans is much more mature than his mate. http://www.metalcrypt.com/pages/interviews.php?intid=396 - here he says that he misses working with Tank's frontman but Ward lost his interest in the band back in 2001. They wanted to continue working in the band. And - unlike Algy - Cliff actually LISTENED to "Breath Of The Pit" and he admitted that there are "some great songs (...) but it's badly recorded/produced". So it's not that much disrespectful. But still, they could at least changed the name...
@MusicForLlamas well paints a different picture, i never pay attention to interviews and such, i knew they split up because algy was sick but not that Trucker and Evans were behaving in such a disrespectful way.
Could you post a few links to interviews of them disrespecting algy?
http://www.discogs.com/artist/204356-Tank-4 - R&B singer.
http://www.discogs.com/artist/262782-Tank-6 - British Heavy Metal band formed in 1980 by Algy Ward.
http://www.discogs.com/artist/24265-Tank - Electronic / House / Trance artist duo from Germany.
@Psyscho I'm not comparing them by the quality of their music (I can see why some dislike the last album by Algy, and Trucker/Evans do make decent music), it's because not only they use the Tank name without Algy's approval, but they also try to disrespect him (Trucker reffered to him in an interview as just "some guy", etc.). And since they do this while Algy is unable to perform due to health reasons, that makes it even more disgusting (it's like if Mikey Dee and Phil Campbell would've continued Motörhead after the death of Lemmy, fucking unethical). Plus Algy founded the band in the first place, so there's that They took the band's name from the sick bastard, and then act like they made the band what it is.
"Tank (with Algy Ward) > R'n'B Tank >>>>>>> Trucker/Evans fake metal tank"
Have you listened to Breath of the Pit? Even though i deeply respect Algy it's pretty bad.
Of course Trucker/Evans Tank doesn't have the vibe of the old stuff and sounds different, but
the only thing you can reproach them is that they continued using the name.
If you ignore that they are pretty awesome
That this senseless discussion is still going on. Since Lastfm shows no interest in creating separate bandpages for artists with the same name, the fairest fan solution would be a shared profil link. I just have Vinyls from NWOBHM Tank, so i never scrobbled any Tank, but it does not even matter. This is not Metal-Archives, this is Lastfm. Stop arguing based on your personal taste and opinion and try to be fair.
