From Natural History: The Very Best of Talk Talk and 178 other releases

“It’s My Life” is a new wave song written by Mark Hollis and Tim Friese-Greene for Talk Talk’s second studio album, also entitled It’s My Life, released in 1984. The song was released as a single in 1984, then re-released in 1985 and 1990. The 1990 reissue, to promote the Natural History: The Very Best of Talk Talk compilation, finally made the song a UK hit, reaching number 13 - the band’s highest singles chart placing.

An ‘extended mix’ of the track is available on Talk Talk’s 12x12 Original Remixes album (1999).
The song was covered by No Doubt in 2003 to promote their The Singles 1992–2003 (see It’s My Life).

Too bad No Doubt ruined this for me. Some songs just should not be covered - unless it's Weird Al.

Ehh... this is an okay song despite being extremely overplayed. But somewhere in an alternate universe, their later experimental/post-rock material is their most well-known.

It's unsurprising that the bio mentions Roxy Music, because parts of the background resemble Roxy Music's sound, and then there's the crooning style of the lead reminiscent of Bryan Ferry's style. I like both.
