    used to work with a couple of young guys from the south side of chicago back in the late 70s- the one was a guitarist and pretty good as i understand-he once told me he loved taj-at the time i had no idea he was- man --- i wish i had that time back

    I'll second that. First two albums were the best. Third was more country blues but after that he started getting distracted with the Africa roots stuff.

    Talented for sure, but he changed genres so often he kinda got lost. For me, he shoulda stuck with the National Steelbody

    levon helm? are you losing it...dont get me wrong..i love taj and levon both but there is no comparing one to the other.they sound nothing alike....they are both their own islands.....

    Funky raw electric blues at its best with a legendary singer and masterful guitarist (Jesse Ed Davis) at their absolute peak. Their first album ("Taj Mahal") is a blues classic.
