Tabla Beat Science is a musical group founded in 1999 by Zakir Hussain and Bill Laswell. Its style consists of a mixture of Hindustani music, Asian Underground, Ambient, Drum and Bass, and Electronica. Laswell met with Karsh Kale (who had worked together with Bill for years), and they later teamed up with Talvin Singh and Trilok Gurtu. All six have written for Tabla Beat Science’s music.

I love to listen to Zakir Hussain and Mickey Hart on the Planet Drum series. When it comes to tabla Zakir is as good as it gets. This band is quite cool.

Shit, I just discovered this guys a few days ago, and I am so grateful. It's a long time since I was so blown away by music. Their live album must be one of the best recordings I've ever heard. Both discs are unbelievably good, but the latter part of the first track on disc one, and its crossing into track two, is so cool I cannnot have anyone visiting without playing it for them. By the way, guys, you should check out the project "Curandero" if you want some more kickass tabla playing.
