T.M.Revolution (real name: Takanori Nishikawa; born September 19, 1970) is a Japanese pop singer originally from Shiga Prefecture. Nishikawa’s stage name stands for Takanori Makes Revolution (Japanese: Takanori ga kakumei wo okosu). He was originally signed under Antinos Records until its collapse in 2002, and is currently represented by Epic Records Japan. TMR is also the first artist to be signed under Tofu Records, a Sony-owned label promoting Japanese pop music in North America.
Nishikawa officially debuted as T.M.Revolution with his single Dokusai -monopolize- (Dictatorship -monopolize-) in May 1996. Nishikawa-san’s first band was originally Luis-Mary, an indie music coordination featuring him as the lead vocalist (with the pseudonym “Haine”). Asakura Daisuke signed on with Nishikawa-san in 1995 under the record label FunHouse to release the first compiled single “BLACK OR WHITE?” (Daisuke Asakura expd. Takanori Nishikawa: Black or White). The selection process and the decision to work with Nishikawa-san was a long, hard choice for Asakura, as he was looking at producing either Katsurayama Shingo or Nishikawa. As it turns out, Nishikawa failed miserably with his first chance to sing for Asakura, and on a second chance, he took the yearning musician under his wings.
Dokusai -monopolize- was welcomed by thousands of fans, and his performance on Pop Jam with Asakura as the synthesist in June 1996 propelled an additional amount of unexpected sales, making the single sell out of its original printing.

@hikarukan: Well said! I think it's amazing that he's been able to reach so many people in many different places. I remember reading somewhere that he named his last single 'resonance' because he wanted to resonate with people; and for me, that's exactly what Takanori Makes Revolution is. Even if he's relatively unknown in my country, his music has somehow managed to reach me and it's definitely made an impact! Takanori should be very proud of how far-reaching he is. =D

And I sincerely think he does, I'm from Brazil (far far away from Japan in culture and distance) and weeks ago I wrote this phrase on my school's blackboard. It was really touching for me, I guess he never realized in his life that he could make such a thing, break the seven seas and culture's barrier. It is indeed a Revolution. I wish I could say this to him, I really have a lot to thank him for his music ^^

I just realized my stats were backwards. LOL! I copied/pasted them both and just wasn't paying attention. Well at any rate, we somehow went up another 4,000 listens from yesterday. 1,760,555 to 1,764,200 plays. Maybe it added a bunch more after the weekend? idk. @storm-and-fire, UNDER:COVER is definitely a cool album! I like them all too.

That's an increase of 6,813 plays and 100 new listeners! Thanks to everyone who participated in this marathon! We were a small group this time, but that's still a LOT of plays towards getting T.M.R. to 2 million! Way to go tfmaster for the HUGE count! That's awesome! Did everyone have fun with this marathon? I sure did, even if I didn't get to do much. I remembered how much I enjoy LOVE SAVER, and I realized that I really like the UNDER:COVER version of 魔弾~der Freischutz~.
