2 Apr 2006, 13:46 by NajmiSwitchfoot finally broke onto the musical scene in 2003 with their fourth album The Beautiful Letdown. In the two years since its release The Beautiful Letdown has gone double platinum, spawned three radio hits, “Meant to Live”, “Dare You to Move” and “This Is Your Life” as well as building up a solid fan base, whose expectations for Switchfoot’s fifth CD is exceptionally high. Under the pressure of success it’s easy for any band to fall short in their follow-up album. Fortunately for Switchfoot they were able to take the elements that have led them to successes and recraft them in 2005’s Nothing Is Sound to create an album that is by all means just as good as if not better than The Beautiful Letdown.
The first thing any Switchfoot fan would notice when listening to Nothing is Sound is that it’s much louder than any of their previous work. The band turned the guitars up on this album, which makes more of the songs sound like “Meant to Live”, with louder riffs and more intense singing. …

15 Aug 2005, 16:14 by ohsnap____I had the chance this weekend to obtain and listen to a fair amount of great new music. Most of which impressed me because I wasn't expecting much before listening to them.
First off, I legally bought two old Candlebox cds off Amazon that came Saturday afternoon. I had been told that the cds were not up to par with the one Candlebox cd I already had, so I was expecting it to be completely different. Happy Pills was the first of the two I listened to, which was actually the last cd they put out in 1998. It starts out like classic Candlebox and continues with driving melodic guitar riffs until the end. Kevin Martin's vocals are high and great. With my favorite song on the album probably being the debut track on the album, 10,000 Horses, although I was hypnotized by a lot of the songs on the album, including the slow and peaceful Sometimes. I can say the exact same about Lucy, the sophmore album put out in 1995. Great cd all the way through. …
