finally broke onto the musical scene in 2003 with their fourth album The Beautiful Letdown
. In the two years since its release The Beautiful Letdown has gone double platinum, spawned three radio hits, “Meant to Live
”, “Dare You to Move
” and “This Is Your Life
” as well as building up a solid fan base, whose expectations for Switchfoot’s fifth CD is exceptionally high. Under the pressure of success it’s easy for any band to fall short in their follow-up album. Fortunately for Switchfoot they were able to take the elements that have led them to successes and recraft them in 2005’s Nothing Is Sound
to create an album that is by all means just as good as if not better than The Beautiful Letdown.
The first thing any Switchfoot fan would notice when listening to Nothing is Sound is that it’s much louder than any of their previous work. The band turned the guitars up on this album, which makes more of the songs sound like “Meant to Live”, with louder riffs and more intense singing. …
