Sweetbox is a Los Angeles based pop music project formed in 1995 by executive producer from Germany, Heiko Schmidt and music producer, Roberto “Geo” Rosan. The idea of Sweetbox was to work with different styles and singers, like taking candy from a box without knowing the exact taste - hence the name Sweetbox.

Throughout the years Sweetbox has had several leading women including Kimberly Kearney, Dacia Bridges, Tina Harris, Jade Villalon and most recently and currently Jamie Pineda.

Although the project released four singles in the mid 90’s with the first two singers Kimberley Kearney and Dacia Bridges, worldwide success came with the third front woman Tina Harris. Everything’s Gonna Be Alright was released in 1997 and started a theme which the project would become famous for - the fusion of classical music and pop music.

After two years with the project, Tina Harris departed after feeling burnt out as a team. Jade Villalon would replace her as the fourth vocalist and capture more success with 5 studio albums and numerous #1 singles throughout Asia and Europe. After nearly 6 years with the project, Jade Villalon and Geo left the project to pursue music under the names Jade Valerie and Eternity∞.

In August 2007, Jamie Pineda became the new singer of Sweetbox. The singer/songwriter released her first studio album with the help of producer Derek Bramble in June 2009 after working on the album for almost two years.

The male IS a rapper but he's so fantastic. I've heard a few of the samples from the album and it's incredible. It truly has an Adagio feel to it.

So they chose a Japanese singer? Sweet. :D I hope this means they'll beat the shit out of those crappy AKB related groups then♥

Well, Miho Fukuhara is an amazing singer, so I'm not disappointed. Just hope they come back with something creative and not just ordinary pop songs.

I'm really excited actually :) I liked the male rapper on Adagio so I'd be happy if they brought some of that back to the project. I think I know who both of them are and I really hope I'm right because it'd be an epic combo imo. If it is who I think it is, Ustareth is on the right track.

Maybe he will be the rapper. OMG I'm so scared of what it might become.

So Sweetbox has TWO members now, a man and a woman, instead of just one singer. If the guy is going to be singing too, I don't know how to feel about it. I've never been that high on male pop singers. I wouldn't have any idea who they are, although the girl reminds of AI for some reason.

v agreed. jamie did a good job but you cant even compare the music that came from jade to the music that came after her.. the 2 albums that game from jamie are good basic pop albums. nothing special but it's not bad.

In my opinion Sweetbox is not the same anymore. I mean, don't get me wrong. I somehow was positively surprised and satisfied with Jamie as singer, but now - I don't know - since Jade left Sweetbox this project lost much - very, very much. But I guess that's because no one is comparable to her. Besides that... I'm a little bit disappointed it follows most of today's music now (not that Diamond Veil was worse, it was a really good album - but... yeah, well). But - I will give the new Sweetbox a chance by listen to what they'll have in store - even if I don't expect very much from it. We'll see.

I don't believe Jamie was "kicked out" - more then likely it was mutual. You could tell Jamie wasn't happy with Sweetbox. My guess is that they promised her more exposure then she was getting. I absolutely adore Jamie and it sucks that it appears she's given up on music, but she gave two great albums so that's enough :) Also, can't wait for the new singers of Sweetbox. Really hoping they intend it to be a girl group.
