About this album

Recorded and filmed live in New Orleans, September 2009, Le Grande Soiree is the culmination of eight months of shows played around New Orleans. Founders Matthew and Melissa DeOrazio began forming a sound around their independent musical styles as Sweet Jones in January 2009.
At that time working with bassist George Deane and drummer Augie Augustine, they decided to capture where the band was at that moment. Playing live was the main focus so it made sense to record live, combining the couples original material written prior to their marriage with covers by artists they are inspired by such as Bob Dylan, PJ Harvey, BB King and Buddy Guy to name a few.

They chose the recently opened Balcony Music Club for it’s room sound and ambiance. Then were introduced to recording engineer Michael Seaman of Listen Up Studios, who also out together the film crew for the night.

Making the night special was the attendance and musical participation of Melissa’s mother, who sang on the tracks I Seen and Desperate Kingdom of Love (DVD).

Le Grande Soiree was released as a CD/DVD set in 2010 during Jazz Fest in New Orleans where the couple resides.
