Sweet Jesus was a promising Shoegazer band, strongly influenced by latter-day My Bloody Valentine, but with a distinctive pop sensibility all its own. They released a 45 and three EPs in the early ’90s, filled with accomplished music which was well received by those fans of the style who discovered them but went entirely unnoticed otherwise.

I discovered these guys from the track "Phone Freak Honey" <sic> on a 1992 Capitol records sampler, and now own all three of the EPs. With a link to a major label, I can't understand why they didn't go further, at least as a prominent underground or cult band. This music is the best shoegazer I have heard, perhaps not as stunning as MBV, but more listenable and superior to any other band in the style.
