Ethereal....jarring, perhaps...only because of certain experiences with this album playing in the background. A throbbing heart knows no finite spectrum of sentimentality I suppose.

What ModestFloyd said, exactly. (But I was 15 when it was released, we even started a Swans-esque band which literally sucked I must admit :)) Not their best, but oh its maravilhoso.

This was my first Swans album, which I got when I was 15 or so. Completely changed my life, and opened me up to all sorts of new ideas on music and life. Seriously.

Wow. WOW! How on earth did it take me this long to get around to this album?!? What mysterious force compelled me to listen to every album before and after this, circling it until I had nowhere else to go for new Swans?? Damnit it's good. In fact this should probably be the first Swans album I share with friends to make them a fan...

I've always thought that the album art matches the mood of the songs so well. The black infinity on the blood red background is so ominous, dangerous looking... just like the songs.
