Biography

The biography of Surganova & Orchectra (Сурганова и Оркестр) begins from December 2002, when one of the foundresses of Night Snipers (Ночные Снайперы) Svetlana Surganova (Светлана Сурганова) left the group thus caused the great sensation in press. For less than a year Svetlana rose very rapidly: she made her own group of professional St Petersburg musicians, composed, recorded and released the debut album Can It Not Be Me (Неужели не я) in 2003. Its 100 000 official copies were sold. In 2004 Surganova & Orchectra became the nominants for the Best Live Group prize and got the prestige FUZZ magazine award Song of The Year. Songs from Can It Not Be Me broke the records in standing on the music chart tops: Murakami (Мураками) – 16 weeks on the Chart’s Dozen (Чартова Дюжина) top; It Hurts (Больно) – 10 weeks. The group shot the Ships (Корабли) video, which was broadcasted on MTV and Muz-Tv. Then they went on their first tour called Circumnavigation (Кругосветка). Then followed the albums Alive (Живой) 2003 and Shopin’s Lady-Love (Возлюбленная Шопена) 2005. The presentation of Shopin’s Lady-Love took place in the International Music House in Moscow.

For today Surganova & Orchestra give concerts very often. Their performances’ geography includes the Far East and Kaliningrad. On the Circumnavigation tour they passed more than 100 towns of Russia and foreign countries.

Svetlana defines their music as VIP-Punk-Decadence (VPD), that’s interpreted as V – aesthetically adjusted stage image of an elegant and thinking person
