Svarte Greiner is Erik K. Skodvin, half of the Norwegian duo Deaf Center. He labels his music as “acoustic doom”. He utilizes both field recordings and computer generated sounds when producing his music.

The debut album, Knive, was released in 2006. His second album, Kappe, in 2009

As a Dark-Minded Artist myself, i know how it feels to be able to create something different and unique on every unveiled release, 'tis a great feeling, therefor I'm sure since he already has "Deaf Center" as his other projects, it only makes sense for him to explore his darkness however he see fit....Kuddos,Sir. A step in the wrong direction? I don't think so. It's certainly more minimal than Knive and probably darker as well. If I wanted to hear Deaf Center I would listen to... Deaf Center. I agree it would fit more on a label like CMI, but considering where John Twells has taken Xela lately, this is no surprise to me. It's obvious that Type is beginning to branch out their sound, and good for them.

Honestly the new album is a step in the wrong direction. Sure its decent dark ambience but its totally different then Knive, which had a much more realistic feel to it with those wood instruments and whatnot. Also on a minor complaint, there is no trace of the Deaf Center sound in his music anymore. This new album would be much more welcome on a label such as Cold Meat Industry... Hard to believe this guy a label mate to acts such as Helios
