Small Blue Thing (4:03)

Cover of RetroSpective: The Best Of Suzanne Vega

From RetroSpective: The Best Of Suzanne Vega and 28 other releases

Cool day; bright but watery winter sun that glares in your eyes when you look up.
The song provides solace where there is lonliness shattered dreams.
Solitude and nothingness and empathy are feelings/senses the song can evoke. Brilliant!!

Today I am a small blue thing
Like a marble or an eye
With my knees against my mouth
I am perfectly round

I first heard Suzanne's voice when I was not very well following a car accident, and laid up in Addenbroke's Hospital, Cambridge. Those memories have stuck with me ever since - that was 1989! Her voice helped me through my recovery.....thank you, Suzanne!

What an amazing(ly underrated) artist. Greatly enjoyed her concert in Tel Aviv a few years back.

This always reminds me of train journeys as a child in the bright morning light...it never fails to moisten my eyes......

when her first album came out- if there was one song that summed up Vega... it was this... mind you its a close tie between this and Marlene on the Wall... either way- its as brilliant now as it was then...
