There's a bit in Garth Ennis and John McCrea's Hitman - the storyline in question was probably published in 1998 or something like that - where a SAS officer just arrived in Gotham City is shaking down an old informant, relocated from Ireland. When the expat is reluctant to provide the needed assistance, the officer makes a threat which goes a little something like this: "You'll do as I say or I drag you back to Belfast, dump you outside your old local with your trousers down and SUPERGRASS written in magic marker across your arse" (I'm paraphrasing like crazy here, sorry for mangling your words, Mr. Ennis). This dialogue boggled my adolescent Norwegian mind, since it had never occured to me that the name of this britpop act I dug was anything other than a nonsensical, possibly drug-related combination of two random words. But this new-to-me definition of "supergrass" was fraught with meaning - dangerous, even!*
2 Dec 2009, 03:51 by pessimysticawow... so, it's that time of year... er, decade again. This is the 1st in a series of playlists in which i've kept track of 100+ albums from this decade, picked 1 song from each album (usually 1 of my favorite tracks), & categorized them into different playlists (5 at the moment). This alternative batch is from albums during 2000-2003

2 Mar 2009, 01:10 by knockergrowl...con un meme. ¿Por qué no? Con uno que reza así:
Take your top 10 artist, and list:
a) their first song you ever heard from them
b) the song that made you love that artist
c) your current favourite song
d) your all-time favourite song
a) The Big Afraid
b) Retreat! Retreat!
c) Little Victories
d) I Swallowed Hard, Like I Understood
God Is An Astronaut
a) The End of the Beginning

2 Apr 2007, 12:53 by codisloveI got this survey on Myspace...but I decided to do it as a shuffle quiz! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
I am so addicted. It sucks!
HERE WE GOES:
Hi, my name is: The Happy Farmer
hahaha I am the Happy Farmer! No, I have never been a farmer, that's just what my lameass parents called me! :D
Never in my life have I been: A Little Time
nopes, time is a rather abstract concept and so I have never 'been' time, that is safe to say!
High school: If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out
bah! I did sing with my friends, but it isn't always true! high school isn't always accepting of random singing! :(
When I'm nervous: If You Were Here
...OK MOVING ON
The last time I cried was: About a Girl
hmmmm unless that little bird in the Kiwi video was a girl, I don't think so.
My hair is: Ole Black Joe
didn't I get this the last time I did a shuffle?! anyways, NO, my hair is not a dying man! NO NO NO!
When I was 10: Accidental Babies
OH DAMN NO!! I was too young to be doing things like that, NO!

17 May 2006, 20:36 by Orange_AnubisI've been handed a copy of a pleasantly ridiculous album by one MC Lars. I'm sure I shouldn't like it as much as I do, it's geeky comedy rap with some great/terrible jokes that may well wear thin very soon. For now though I'm having a blast with stuff like the self-deprecating cheesiness of his Jay-Z pastiche 21 Concepts, and the Atari console disco of Space Game.
It's a mixed bag on the whole I suppose, some tracks are great musically but a bit heavy-handed with the old lyrics, like his satires on the music biz Signing Emo (in which, yes, Emo is rhymed with Nemo, and not for the first time on the album) and 'Download this Song', which samples The Passenger brilliantly but does grate on the nerves a bit. And some might be clever but they pass me by, for instance Roommate From Hell. This is perhaps because I believe that the whole "No, no, you see, the roommate is actually from hell" concept belongs to Buffy and Buffy alone).
18 Mar 2006, 09:39 by JamieBeardyAnd the first song I listened to as an adult: Moving. Kinda appropriate I guess. I've just listened to I'm So Childish though :D
First CD as an 18 year old:
I got All Is Violent, All Is Bright and The End of the Beginning (which I guess is also quite appropriate) from my Dad - a man of exquisite taste ( www.last.fm/user/Rocket888 )
Peace out, but watch out, cos I can drink and vote now! Mwah!
