1 Oct 2005, 16:15 by ColinzealukWith it being a good 18 months since I last saw the Super Furry Animals and my departure to the wilderness of Aberystwyth only a couple of days later (we don't get decent bands down this way... although Gruff Rhys did visit last year in fairness) it seemed like a good time to go watch them again in the surroundings of London's largest 'medium sized' venue. Brixton Acadamy (or the Carling Acadamy, Brixton??!) always feels odd once you're inside... look up, and you can't actually make out the ceiling anywhere, yet you've got four walls surrounding you.
Anyway, arriving by about half 7 was a fairly good move with the majority of the queue already having filtered in and a quick entry after being frisked by security. Some time was spent on my arse with the bloke noticing an odd shaped metal lump in my back pocket - "Just my Minidisk player" I pointed out, at which point I was waved past, despite the usual Nazi policy there against any kind of recording device.
