About this album

Oath Bound is the sixth full length album by Summoning. Not counting certain pieces from the soundtrack of Lord of the Rings, “Mirdautas Vras” is the first song ever to be written entirely in the Black Speech of Mordor. The songs “Might and Glory” and “Land of the Dead” both feature a self-sung choir chorus similar to that which was used on the Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame song “Farewell”. Being 21 seconds longer than Dol Guldur, this album was Summoning’s longest release before the release of the version of Old Mornings Dawn containing bonus tracks. It also contains the band’s longest song, Land of the Dead.

This has grown to be one of my favourite albums. Atmospheric, airy, captivating, full of masterful songwriting--It's absolutely timeless. Might and Glory is among the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard.

I got the feeling that absolute every Summoning album is a grower. At first I disliked this, but after a few more spins I began to like this more and more and now I realize it's perfect, just as everything from this amazing band. It's the same with all of their other works.

By Manwë's beard, this opus is one of the grandest and most significant our world has seen. John Ronald Reuel himself would be proud.

Perfection is an insult to this album. This beyond perfect and there's no word in any language to describe the greatness of this magical masterpiece. This is beyond music. Land of the Dead is one of the best composed piece of awesomeness in human history.
