  • Your Life's Soundtrack (yep, it's a survey)

    12 Nov 2006, 00:10 by milkita

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
    So, here's how it works:

    1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
    2. Put it on shuffle
    3. Press play
    4. For every question, type the song that's playing
    5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
    6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool... and alot of the songs fit with the setting

    Opening Credits:
Rufus Wainwright - Coeur de Parisienne (yes, I do have aspirations of this kind)

    Waking Up:
The Decemberists - Los Angeles, I'm Yours (Replace LA with NYC, then it's all good)

    First Day At School:
Keane - Somewhere Only We Know (yeah, at school I rather wish I were somewhere only I know)

    Falling In Love:
No Doubt - It's My Life (I'm a tough cookie)

    Fight Song:
Iggy Pop - The Passenger (hmmm... ok)

    Breaking Up:
Fiona Apple - Fast as You Can

    Prom:
Sumi Jo - Alma Del Core (weee, an opera aria at my prom? How cool is that?)

    Life:
Jussi Bjoerlin & ??? - Au Fond Du Temple Saint (what a really weird life)
  • the voice of Marilyn Monroe

    15 May 2006, 16:30 by feanne

She can't do vocal acrobatics like Barbra Streisand.

She doesn't have the range or the power or the control of Korean soprano Sumi Jo. (I adore you, Sumi Jo!)

But I love Marilyn Monroe's singing voice. It's warm and it's charming. That's what makes it beautiful.

From listening to her, I've learned that singing is as much about warmth as it is about skill. Well... I guess you could say that warmth is a skill.
